Life is Grand! presents a intriguing survey of Gilmore's work. Primarily recognized for his signature drawings and abstract-figurative painting, the show will feature over 50 works, most of which have never been seen before in Colorado. Ironically, this major exhibition represents only a small portion of the artist's extensive oeuvre. Gilmore has been directly involved in the selection and presentation of the work, and has chosen pieces which reflect stereotypes, sexuality, and religion. Gilmore tackles difficult and often awkward issues with a sense of humor and without judgment. Having curated, designed and installed hundreds of stellar exhibitions himself, the design of this show promises to be as stunning as the work.

Choosing highlights from major series, the show begins with a bang - Gilmore was the first artist selected for Lollapalooza with a major feature on MTV. Viewers will then see work reflecting his many interests in the human condition, including his involvement in the MARS Art Space. Traveling through the years and the exhibition, one is impacted by the personal narrative and expressive form of the work. His symbols, animated figures, autobiographic themes, metaphorical references, along with his tremendous craft, color and gesture, leave one awestruck and pensive.
